Watch your step
Winchester, apparently, is a city. What was once England’s capital is now a nice and quiet community located in a prime spot on a mainline train route. When those commuters finally make it home, they don’t want to be shouted at by signs – they want little things like this. Nailed discreetly on the trunk of the tree, the sign is indicative of just how effective subtle politeness is when it’s achieved through sans serif, too-small type. Shame you have to step onto the grass to see what it says…
Yella was: Visiting the city for a very rare, al fresco pub lunch, on a Sunday afternoon; wondering why everything was so expensive; eavesdropping on a conversation about a ‘new office in Chelsea’; stepping on grass.
